In cooperation with the Freyburg winery Grober-Feetz, the Jahn Museum has been offering an exclusive and limited edition Jahn wine since 2026. The estate bottling includes three selected wines from the Saale-Unstrut region and combines regional wine culture with the Jahn Museum:

2024 Riesling Muschelkalk: Ripe apricot & yellow apple on the nose with a mild acidity on the palate, balanced and smooth.

2025 Rosino: Fresh fruity notes of blackcurrant & pomegranate on the nose. A sparkling, lively summer companion.

Particularly noteworthy are the individually designed labels made from high-quality and sustainable grass paper, which feature motifs from the collection and memorial sites of the Jahn Museum:
The red wine depicts the ceiling fresco showing the Turner Cross in the Freyburg Jahn Hall of Honor. The white wine's label features a portrait of Friedrich Ludwig Jahn based on Engelbach's depiction from 1846. And the rosé wine presents a historical photograph of female gymnasts during the exercise „Circle Formation with Hand Grasp“ around 1930 (edited photograph from the collection of the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Museum).

To this end, the book has included the respective text versions of the preceding conference papers, and it has been further enriched by additional essays outside the conference events, for example on the economic and political situation of the countries of Europe or by the inclusion of contributions on the methodology of historiography about that period. The result is now a self-contained and well-structured whole.

Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, the founder of the German gymnastics movement, died 150 years ago, on October 15, 1852, and his ancestor was already known as the "father of gymnastics" during his lifetime. Today, there is extensive and varied research literature on Jahn's life and his historical significance, with several special bibliographies available on his appearance alone. This inexhaustible body of literature has given rise to a variety of "Jahn images" that reflect the cultural and political currents of the time. They left lasting traces in the collective memory through the interaction with non-literary forms of tradition, such as the memorials have always represented as a symbolic reinforcement of memory.

Albert Baur (November 12, 1803 – October 30, 1886) was a liberal patriot and an active participant in the gymnastics movement. In Belzig, he introduced gymnastics, swimming, and ice skating for both young and old and founded several clubs and circles. He served as a pastor in Belzig from 1836 to 1882. His relationship with fine arts is far less known. For the first time, his sketchbook, which he kept since 1830, is being fully published here. It demonstrates his artistic confidence and his love for his adopted home, Belzig. Furthermore, studying Albert Baur provides insight into the lives and works of Berlin artists who have been unjustly forgotten, thus serving as a contribution to Berlin art history.
