The aim of this text database is also to counteract the narrowing of the image of Jahn to the role of the \"father of gymnastics\" and to provide building blocks for a complex, differentiated and thus realistic picture of his multifaceted work. The texts in the Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Library therefore also take into account different points of view on Jahn's reception. The contributions to the online library are intended to contribute to an understanding of the phenomenon \"Jahn“ by embedding it in its historical context and tracing its gymnastic, political, pedagogical and linguistic history. The fact that Jahn was already a controversial figure during his lifetime and that opinions still differ about him today will not be ignored. At the same time, however, it should become clear that the study of Jahn and the history of the gymnastics movement is still important today in order to demonstrate the lasting merits of Friedrich Ludwig Jahn – despite all the controversy surrounding his person – and to prove that the history of German gymnastics and German national history are closely interwoven. The Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Library is aimed not only at specialists, but also at an interested public. It is intended to encourage in-depth study of Jahn's person and work and thus promote academic research. It is not the aim of the project to create a library in the sense of encyclopaedic completeness.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/jahn-museum.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/museum-publikationen-3.png\" alt=\"museum-publikationen-3\" title=\"museum-publications-3\" itemprop=\"image\"\/>\n\t
Warranty<\/p>\n\t
The publisher accepts no responsibility for the topicality, correctness, completeness or quality of the information provided.
