Visitor Information Renovation 2026 to 2029:
The Jahn Museum in the former residence of the father of gymnastics (Schlossstraße 11) will remain closed for a general renovation until 2029.
Since 20. August 2026 is in the Jahn-Ehrenhalle (Schützenstraße 17, 5-7 minutes' walk) a Interim exhibition on view. During the renovation period at the residential building, we are offering a full exhibition program there, including museum education activities.

Please note: the Jahn-Ehrenhalle is currently not accessible without barriers. Please contact us if you need assistance with access.
Attention:
In the Jahn-Ehrenhalle there is none sanitary facilities. Use the public toilet at the Schützenhaus (Schützenstraße 6; 1 minute walk)

For travelling within Saale-Unstrut use the Regional train Abellio and local public transport. In addition, you can also reach the neighbouring regions of Kyffhäuserkreis, Apolda, Saale-Holzland-Kreis, Greiz, Altenburger Land, Leipziger Land and the city of Gera with the PVG Burgenlandkreis via individual lines.

Approach via the A4
Take the motorway exit 50 Apolda,
follow the B87 in the direction of Eckartsberga,
change to the B250 in the direction of Bad Bibra,
after Bad Bibra change to the B176 direction Freyburg via Laucha.
Approach via the A9 from the south
Take the motorway exit 21a Naumburg,
follow the B180 in the direction of Naumburg,
follow the signs in the direction of Freyburg.
Approach via the A9 from the north
At the Rippachtal motorway junction, change to the A38 towards Leuna,
take the motorway exit 25 Merseburg Süd,
follow the signs to Freyburg (K2173, L181, L189, B176),
at the roundabout before Freyburg take the second exit.
Approach via the A38 from the west
Take motorway exit 19 (end of motorway),
change to the B180 in the direction of Querfurt,
follow the signs to Freyburg.
Parking
Use the Schützenplatz visitor parking lot.
