Book: Sports history networked

This conference volume documents current initiatives for a contemporary approach to the cultural heritage of sport. The individual contributions illustrate and show ways in which sports archives and collections can be maintained by different sponsors, how sports history archives and museums can serve as memory repositories and how sports history can be preserved in a network. The essays provide important impulses for stronger cooperation between sports archives, museums and collections, both for existing historical institutions and for organized sport as a whole. The keynote speech by the renowned literary scholar Dr. Thomas Schmidt (German Literature Archive Marbach) on the occasion of the anniversary symposium expands the perspective of this volume to include the history of the tense relationship between the „hostile siblings“ literature and sport.
