“The Cold Rings – All-German to Tokyo 1964” – Film presentation with panel discussion

The Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 were the last time an all-German team took part. This is the subject of the film "Die kalten Ringe" ("The Cold Rings"), which was presented by the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Gesellschaft e.V. under the leadership of its managing director Manuela Dietz and in cooperation with the Landeszentrale für politische Bildung Sachsen-Anhalt ("Saxony-Anhalt State Agency for Civic Education") and the Zentrum deutsche Sportgeschichte ("Center for German Sports History") on September 3, 2021 in the atrium of the Rotkäppchen-Mumm sparkling wine cellar in Freyburg. Thomas Grimm (author of the film), Jürgen May (Olympic participant 1964, athletics) and Christel Felgner (Olympic participant 1964, gymnastics) participated in the subsequent panel discussion. Particularly warmly welcomed among the approximately 100 guests was Felgner's former coach and today the oldest competitive gymnast in the world, Johanna Quaas. The lively discussion, in which many guests participated, was moderated by Dr. René Wiese / Center of German Sports History Berlin-Brandenburg.
